Youth (14 and under): free! but must be accompanied by a paying adult
Price includes admission to the Montreal Highland Games on August 4.

Join us at this popular event to learn Scottish heavy athletics. At the end of the day, each participant will have their picture taken holding a caber!

What you will learn:

The stone throw

The weight-for-distance throw

The weight-over-bar throw

The caber toss

All participants must register in advance. Monies raised go to the Douglas Mental Health University Institute Foundation.

What if it rains?
In the event of inclement weather, the clinic will be postponed to the next day (Sunday). We will post a notice on this page and email all registered participants to inform them.

JASON BAINES, CLINIC LEADER
​The clinic leader is long-time professional Heavy Weight competitor Jason Baines who has been one of the top professionals in Canada for the past five years. A winner of multiple Highland Games throughout Canada, Jason is also one of the top Scottish Hammer throwers in the world and currently holds the Ontario Championship records in Lightweight for Distance and Heavy Hammer. In addition to Heavy Events, Jason has been a medalist in track and field, including multiple indoor #1 rankings, Canadian Masters Champion and two silver medals in the hammer throw at the 2015 World Masters Championships.

At the 2021 virtual Montreal Highland Games, Jason beat the Guinness World Record for the most number of cabers tossed in one hour!
